Quintet
Beatroot is a five-piece funk and soul band from Glasgow, Scotland. As a newly formed group, Beatroot prides itself in bringing the funk to the people, latency free.
In anticipation of their first E.P, Beatroot approached me to design a typeface which was at once musical and exclusive to their brand. Their influences reflect 20th century artists such as Patrice Rushen and Herbie Hancock, as well as modern bands such as Vulfpeck, Thundercat and Kamashi Washington.
In response, I produced ‘Quintet’ - a condensed font which adopts the ovals and stems of music notation in its thin crossbars, thick stems and curved serif ends.
